As interpreting becomes more and more active in international situations, the trend of interdisciplinary research in interpreting is more and more prominent. The Adaptation Theory means that the language users continue to choose language projects in accordance with the needs of the context of communication to achieve the purpose of smooth communication.Interpreting,as a cross-cultural communication activity through the medium of language,is a continuous process of adaptive choice. This process is not only subject to the constraints of the language environment, but also affected by the non-verbal environment of both sides of communication. Therefore,in the choice of language, much attention must be paid to adaptability. This paper analyzes the simulated consecutive interpreting of Recognition and Evaluation of Entrepreneurial Opportunities in the framework of the Adaptation Theory, analyzing in detail the penetration and guidance of theory in practice, and the supplement and enrichment of theory. The simulated interpreting is to pass the"Recognition and Evaluation of Entrepreneurial Opportunities" lectures to students from the third world countries, and to interpret questions raised by the audience and answers from the speaker in the latter part of the lecture. This lecture is selected from entrepreneurial innovation studies by Su Shibin,a professor from School of Management of Fuzhou University, and a graduate student who is familiar with Professor Six’s innovation and entrepreneurship and has related experience was invited to give the lecture. The author records the entire process of simulated interpreting, converts it into text material, and makes systematic analysis on it.Combined with the adaptation theory, this paper analyzes both the challenges and advantages in the interpreting, such as the choice of words, sentence restructuring and the interpreting of words with Chinese characteristics, and puts forward targeted strategies and interpreting methods. The interpreting strategies are divided into two parts which are the adaptation of linguistic context and non-linguistic context. The adaptation of linguistic context includes the words adaptation and sentences adaptation. And the adaptation of non-linguistic context contains adaptation of situational context and cultural context.Furthermore, the paper studies the role and importance of the theory of adaptation in practice of it,with the expectation of enriching and supplementing the theory through practice. At the same time,it provides reference for the MTI students or other learners who study and practice interpreting and offers reference value for interpreters to adjust the interpreting strategies. |
