Practice Report On Translation Of Hearing On Anti-dumping And Countervailing Case Of DDGS Materials Submitted By Domestic Industry After The Hearing Under The Guidance Of Communicative Translation Theory

With the development of global economy,many countries have enjoyed a close trade relation,which inevitably brings about trade frictions.In order to better communicate with each other and settle trade frictions between the traders,sometimes they may take legal action.They need to submit professional texts related to their industries when the friction is brought to court.This generates a significant demand for the translation of such texts,which provides both challenges and opportunities for the translators.During the translator's internship in YGYM Translation Service Co.,Ltd,the translator was given an opportunity to participate in a translation project related to this type of text.The translation project is Hearing on Anti-dumping and Countervailing Case of DDGS Materials Submitted by Domestic Industry after the Hearing.In the background of economic globalization,China's DDGS industry has suffered substantial damage due to the dumping of DDGS from the United States to Chinese market,so China launches anti-dumping and countervailing activities.This is the background under which the submitted material has emerged.The submitted material,mainly describes the damage that the domestic industry has suffered,is an important material for the protection of domestic industry interest.Its purpose is to deliver to the US industry representatives the causal relationship between the damage from which Chinese domestic industry suffered and the dumping of the US DDGS.This requires the translator to effectively and accurately convey the information to the US industry representatives.The text of the translation project is an informative professional text with legal effect.And the text is true and reliable,full of authoritative survey data and professional terms.The source text of the submitted material mainly focuses on expressing events and conveying information.Therefore,it requires the translator to faithfully and completely deliver the original information.And it also requires the translator to master the original linguistic style and to reproduce the style in the translated version.According to its linguistic features and its requirements for the translator,the translator chooses communicative translation theory to guide the translation of the project,because the core of communicative translation theory is to take the target reader as its center and to persuade and to influence the target reader by accurately conveying the original information to them.This corresponds to the purpose for translating the submitted material.This practice report includes the following parts.The first part can be further divided into five small parts:the background of the task,the literature review,the purpose and significance of the research topic,research problems and methods and the structure of the practice report.Secondly,translation tasks and translation practice are illustrated.The description of the translation task can be divided into four small parts:the source of the translation task,analysis on the text and the target reader as well as requirements of the translation task.And the process of translation practice includes preparation before translation,translation process,post-translation modification and correction.Based on these two previous parts,the linguistic features of the submitted materials are analyzed from three levels:lexical characteristics,syntax characteristics and discourse characteristics.Then Newmark's communicative translation theory is introduced.After that,translation problems and solutions in the lexical,syntactic and discourse levels are illustrated in order to find out the most appropriate translation strategies which might help to improve the quality of the translation.Finally,a conclusion on the practice report is made and the translator hopes that this report will offer some reference for the translation on the relative documents or informative texts in the future.
