The English-Chinese Translation Writing:Theory and Practice, written by Yang Shizhuo, was published in 2012.The theory of translational writing is based on the basic principles of writing, and constructed by absorbing and integrating the useful components in the traditional Chinese translation theories and Western translation theories(especially linguistic translation theories),thus forming the basic pattern of translational writing, namely "perception-ideation-expression" and "revision".Chapter One and Chapter Two of this book are selected as translation material in this translation practice.Chapter One introduces the analysis and the clarification of translational writing's terminologies, while Chapter Two constructs the model of"perception, ideation, expression and revision" of translational writing. This translation practice aims to arouse attention to translational writing from translation scholars and learners at home and abroad, thus helping their translation practice. This practice is also conducive to help the author of this report strengthen his understanding of translational writing and improve his ability of translation writing. The theoretical basis of this report is Nida's functional equivalence theory, which requires a translator to convey the meaning of the original text accurately and not to stick to the language form of the original text when necessary. The purpose of this theory is to make the readers of translation get the same reading experience as the readers of the original text.Under the guidance of this theory, the author and translator explores the translation methods suitable for this material at the lexical level and the syntactical level. At the lexical level, the translator needs to have a deep understanding of the connotation and denotation of terminologies and proper nouns and try to be faithful. At the syntactical level, translation methods are flexibly used, such as literal translation, free translation, addition and omission;at the same time, the translator should master the specific methods of intralingual translation and interlingual translation for long and complex sentences and classical Chinese.
