The Research On Wu Wei's Late Painting

This thesis analyzes the theme,style,contribution and influence of Wu Wei's late painting by the clues of Wu Wei's painting works,friends' inscriptions,comments on the history of painting and his disciples' transmission,combining with the social trend of thought and his personal experience at that time,and analyzes the theme,style,contribution and influence of his late paintings.Wu Wei's late painting focused on the theme of seclusion,and his painting style was coarse and simple without losing its appearance,delicate but contained in indulgence.Wu Wei's main contribution to painting was to innovate the painting method and push the elegant figure painting to the climax.Wu Wei's works influenced the development of painting schools at that time.This thesis is divided into three parts:The first chapter classifies the theme of seclusion of Wu Wei's late painting into three aspects,which are divided into three categories: fishing firewood theme,Taoist character theme and snowscape theme.The later seclusion theme has the tendency of secularization.In the second chapter,the author analyzes the reasons that brought about the main style in Wu Wei's late paintings and the representation of the style of his paintings.The reasons that help form his main style include the impact of failure of his court life,his arrogant character and the combination with strokes of calligraphy.The style of Wu Wei's late paintings is mainly the simple style of freehand painting and the style of white drawing.Based on the analysis of his painting style,this chapter also explores the aesthetic preference hidden behind his painting style at that time.In the third chapter,according to the main characteristics of Wu Wei's late painting,this chapter analyzes the contribution and influence of Wu Wei's late painting.Wu Wei's late paintings made innovations in methods,and painting was no longer limited by the tools and the normal methods.At the same time,he also developed figure painting,pushing the vigorous and elegant figure painting to the climax.
