The Research On Group Work Of Improving Migrant Children's Self-control Ability

Self-control ability,an individual ability of actively adjusting one's behavior to make their internal standards adapt to social expectations,can promote the growth and development of children.Due to parents'unstable jobs and long working hours,migrant children spend less time with their parents and cannot get long-term care from parents in life and study.Parents' awareness of vocational education is not enough.Some migrant children tend to deviate from their values and lack abilities of self-supervision and self-control without supervision.Therefore,improving children's self-control ability helps children to build strong will and character,enhance their ability to resist all kinds of temptation from outside,and increase their resilience in difficult situations,so as to complete their positive and healthy personalities.Based on the X Children's Activity Center in C community in Kunming city,the study tested the migrant children from the Activity Centers by applying "Student's Self-Presentation Table on Children's Self-control",10 students with the middle and low self-control ability were selected as the service object.After the preliminary observations and interviews,we got the problems of group members in self-control,designed and intervened the group activities on the basis of these problems.Group activities are divided into 11 sections,which were designed from four aspects as cognition of self-control of learning behavior,self-control of life behavior,self-control of interpersonal communication and emotion management.After the activity,the self-control ability of the group members was tested by applying "Student's Self-Presentation Table on Children's Self-control".The results showed that the self-control group members could effectively improve the self-control ability and make certain changes in their ideas and actions.It is showed that social work is of great significance to the research on the development of self-control of migrant children,which should be continued to explore and develop.Meanwhile,the advantages of group work should be brought into play to help more migrant children who is short of self-control ability to get improved to assist migrant children get better development in the future.
