Research About Shaanxi Village In Taiwan

In 1977,Xu Bingyan who worked for the ministry of education in Taiwan came to Shaanxi Village,which lied in Xiushui,Changhua,Taiwan,he discovered many evidence showed that villagers in Shaanxi Village were descendants of Shaanxi immigrants.From then on,villagers had known where they came from.At the same time,Shaanxi townsmen in Taiwan had a reunion,some people even set up an archway and the Shaanxi Cultural Museum.Besides,a rush of root-seeking which emphasized cultural relationship cross the strait appeared in Shaanxi Village and even spread throughout Taiwan.However,what a pity that the good scenery was not long.Shortly afterwards,due to the poor management and the thawing of cross-strait relationship,Shaanxi Village became unpopular and controversial.Fortunately,in recent years,continual visits by people from Shaanxi Province and frequent communication cross the strait revitalized Shaanxi Village.Some villagers in Shaanxi Village also embarked on a trip to return home and visit their relatives.Based on Shaanxi Literature which founded by Shaanxi townsmen association in Taiwan and results from field investigation,this paper focuses on the history and current construction of Shaanxi Village.Also,the thesis makes an inference on the origin of Shaanxi Village and the identity of General Wumian.On one hand,under the influence of homeland infiltration,both General Wumian and Shaanxi Village have become a spiritual tie cross the strait.They have witnessed the communication between Shaanxi Province and Taiwan.On the other hand,through field visits,we found that due to the times,Shaanxi factors of Shaanxi Village are not obvious.Oppositely,we need to realize Shaanxi Village shows more localization characteristics.Last but not least,we summarize different characteristics of the phenomenon about Shaanxi Village in various historical periods.What’s more,according to the practice of Shaanxi-Taiwan communication,this article also puts forward some views on how to improve the quality of communication between Shaanxi Province and Taiwan.
