Koizumi Fumio(1927-1983),the famous Ethnomusicologis of Japan.He investigated and researched the music of more than 50 countries in the world started from the gamut research of Japan.Depend on the abundant experience and materials,sharp insight,research in the music and cultural anthropology sedulously,not only in the academic area,but also has a large influence for mass culture.And he also pay attention to the problems of music education and propose many forward-looking opinions.Koizumi Fumio also has an important meaning for China musicology research,he is the important reference person for China musicology research(The Anthropology of Music).Currently,China has no systematic translation of Koizumi Fumio,the introduction of him also very few,but in the research of Chinese musicians has absorbed the music theory of him widely,mainly including the following aspects:(I)Japanese traditional music(Japanese Music/ Gamut,Tone,Rhythm Theory/ Folk Music and so on);(II)Ethnomusicology(Research Method/ Research Result);(III).Music culture,phenomenon and music education.From the above,we can know that Koizumi Fumio has an important meaning for Chinese music circle.The translation named The Sound of Japan,the Japanese Music in the World developed mainly around the Japanese traditional music,takes the extensive adoption of Japanese folk rhymes and nursery rhymes as an opportunity to investigate and study the genealogy,to know the basic character of Japanese music deeply,reconstruct the Japanese gamut,and describe the three elements(gamut,rhythm and music form)of music simply to make everyone can understand and accept.The translation divided into three parts:(I)The Japanese music in the world;(II)Japanese traditional music;(III)The basic theory of Japanese music.The author proposed the concept of Heyin and the study on the scale of the science of the center of the four-degree scale theory though the method of comparative musicology,ensured the epochal Japanese phonetics,opened a new situation for Japanese music research.And this incisive discussion basically put an end to the debate on Japanese phonetics.The thesis(book review)named Listen to the World's Sounds,On Japanese Ethnomusicologist Koizumi Fumio---From the Translation named The Sound of Japan,Japanese Music in the World,discuss and research the Koizumi Fumio and his contribution for music theory,mainly through the following five aspects:(I)The way of music exploration of Koizumi Fumio;(II)Taking the extensive adoption of Japanese nursery rhyme folk rhyme as an opportunity;(III)The Japanese music in the world(parallelism);(IV)Listen the world's sounds;(V)The relationship of music and social structure to explore the pioneer of Japanese folk music.Hope to try to restore a true folk music scholar through a more comprehensive,multi-faceted discussion.
