As an important part of communication ability,the cultivation of strategic ability plays an important role in improving learners' speaking ability.To this end,under the guidance of the theoretical results of communication strategies,I constructed a communication strategy classification framework for British Chinese beginners in combination with teaching practice,and then designed a questionnaire on the basis of this framework to investigate students' strategy usage.Students had to experience communication strategy training for 35 weeks,after which,all the data including survey results and the results of oral tests before and after training were analyzed.The results are as follows:1.Before the training,due to the limited language level,the students had a weak strategic awareness,and the types of communication strategies used were not balanced.The reduction,hesitation and fillers using strategies were mainly used,and the achievement strategies were less used,especially generalization,substitution,making examples,description,creating contexts,and reorganization.2.Communication strategy training had a significant impact on the type and frequency of experimental group strategy use.First,the reduction strategy and L1/L3 strategy use frequency were significantly reduced;Second,some less effective strategies in interlanguage strategies,such as retrieval and repair strategies,were significantly reduced;Third,the frequency of hesitation strategy was significantly reduced;Fourth,the strategies with higher effectiveness in interlanguage strategies,such as generalization,description,substitution,creating contexts,repetition,reorganization,and asking clarification,had seen a significant increase in the frequency of use.In contrast,the strategy type and frequency of the comparison group did not change much,and the reduction strategy,L1/L3 strategy,asking for help strategy,non-linguistic strategy,and some less effective strategies in interlanguage strategies were mainly used.3.Communication strategies training had a positive effect on the improvement of students' oral ability.It showed no significant difference in the spoken scores before training between the comparison group and the experimental group.After the training of 35 weeks,the oral scores of the two groups showed significant differences.The average scores of the oral scores in the experimental group were higher than those in the comparison group.4.Communication strategy training was conducive to improving the fluency and richness of information in students'oral communication,and had no significant effect on grammatical vocabulary ability and phonetic tonal level.The above conclusions confirmed the teachability and effectiveness of the communication strategy.Based on this,I concluded and reflected on the whole training process,and put forward the implementation suggestions on th e strategy teaching,in order to bring some enlightenment to the Chinese teaching in UK.
