A Report On The Translation Of Registration Rights Agreement:the Translation Of Conditionals

This is a report on the translation of Registration Rights Agreement between KaloBios Pharmaceuticals,Inc.and the several purchasers.This agreement mainly introduces the registration and resale of the registrable securities,in which involves in the relevant provisions of Securities Act and Exchange Act.The author finds that there are a lot of conditionals in the agreement,which is the main difficulty in the translation.Therefore,the author chooses the translation of conditionals as the topic of the report.Conditionals are generally divided into explicit conditionals and implicit conditionals.The explicit conditional has the conditional conjunction while the implicit conditional needs to be inferred from the context.In this report,the author uses four translation techniques to translate conditionals of Registration Rights Agreement: changing explicitness into explicitness,changing explicitness into implicitness,changing implicitness into explicitness and rearranging the order of the sentence.The author hopes these translation techniques can provide some references for the other translators to deal with conditionals in the similar source texts.
