Translation Report Of Selected Articles On Stall Economy Based On Functional Equivalence Theory

With the development of the global economy,cross-cultural exchanges between countries are increasing,and China’s international status and international influence are gradually increasing.Countries around the world are paying more and more attention to China.After the sudden attack of the COVID-19,the relevant media reports about stall economy are not only a way for outside society to understand China’s current policies but also suitable translation materials for translators.Since the emergence of Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory,it has dramatically influenced the translation circles at home and abroad.After studying and understanding the theory of functional equivalence,the author learned that the core of the functional equivalence theory is “the response of the target reader to the source text should be consistent with the response of the original reader.” The author believes that this theory can be taken as the basis of the translation practice,in order to achieve the highest level of equivalence between the target text and the source text.The author uses the translation theory as a guide to translating articles on stall economy from three aspects: lexical level,syntactic level,and textual level so as to solve the practical problems encountered by translators in translating such articles in order to make a summary and analysis.In order to translate closer to the source text,the author finds that at the lexical level,attention should be paid to the translation of specialized terms and conversion of part of speech.At the lexical level,emphasis should be laid on the voice conversion,null sentences and kernel sentences,so as to be as close as possible to the idiom of the translated language.At the textual level,cohesion and coherence need to be taken into account during translation.Through this report,the author has gained a profound understanding of how to ensure the translation quality of economic texts.The author summarized some translation experiences and methods,striving to achieve the purpose of bilingualism in translating,hopefully that this report can provide some references for other translators to translate economic texts.
