This translation practice report, based on the original text “Women’s Literary History:Inventing Tradition in Modern China” and its translation text, has an specific analysis onvocabulary equivalence, sentence equivalence, discourse equivalence and stylisticequivalence etc. through the theoretical use of “functional equivalence” from Nida during thetranslation practice. This report includes four parts: Task Description, Task Process, CaseStudy and Conclusion. Task description mainly introduces the background of task, the reasonfor the choice of text as well as the nature and characteristics of the text; Task processintroduces the translator, the preparation work before translation, translation work durationand quality control method and process; Case analysis, as the focus of the report in thispractice, mainly analyzes the functional equivalence theory of the text, how to achievefunctional equivalence in the translation and what translation strategies to achieve functionalequivalence in the translation; Practice conclusion mainly illustrates the problems thattranslator met in translation practice and the enlightenment that the translator obtained duringthe translation practice.
