As a pioneer of egoism, anarchism and nihilism,Max Steiner was also an important figure in the Young Hegelians. His family background made him become the representatives of the German petty bourgeoisie as well.In his representative work Der Einzige und sein Eigentum,Steiner criticized Feuerbach's philosophy of "Gattungswesen",pointing out that "man" in Feuerbach's philosophy, like the Christian god he criticized,is a new supreme nature beyond man himself and above the individual, and is a new religion. In the development of Marx's philosophy,Feuerbach and Steiner have great influence on Marx's thought, especially Feuerbach's thinking, which played a vital role on transformation of Marx to materialism, meanwhile Steiner's criticism of Feuerbach philosophy in the abstraction of humanism, changing the young Marx's approval and worship of Feuerbach philosophy.Marx put forward the thought of "realistic person" through criticizing the philosophy of Steiner in premise of the thought of "Einzige",ultimately established the great historical materialism philosophy.Marx and Engels wrote the German ideology between 1845 and 1846,which first systematically expounded the notion of historical materialism. The German ideology using the great length, accounting for almost two-thirds of the book to criticize Steiner. In the chapter of "St Max",Marx from the perspective of historical materialism put forward the thought of "realistic person",points out that Steiner "Einzige" thought and Feuerbach abstract concept of "humanism" as its essence,is not specific, realistic, but imagined abstract concepts.Marx, through criticizing Feuerbach and Steiner' s thought, concludes speculative philosophy and young Hegelians' philosophical thought. Therefore, from the aspect of historical materialism,Marx points out the importance of realistic basis in the process of studying philosophy and completes the surmounts of previous philosophy.
