Based on the analysis of Tąpies' works under the influence of Oriental culture, this paper tries to find out the changes in his works in the process of learning and exploring this foreign culture.First of all,Eastern culture has a profound impact on Tąpies.Whether from the dissatisfaction with tyranny during the Civil War or the illness in his youth,Eastern culture has brought great consolation to Tąpies, and he has constantly absorbed the factors that are beneficial to him.Secondly,in his creation,he constantly tried to integrate various elements of Oriental Art into his works, and also achieved corresponding results. He draws nourishment from Chinese painting and calligraphy, learns life style from literati and Mohists, deepens his understanding of the East from Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism, and seeks solutions to Western problems from Eastern philosophy.Tąpies' various references to Oriental art elements make the symbols and language forms in his paintings show Oriental charm. At the same time, these elements also give him the special significance of the materials he chooses, which makes his works feel different and opens up a new way for his creation.Through the collation and analysis of Tąpies' works in the 1980 s and 1990 s,this paper summarizes the characteristics and main points of them, and focuses on the impact of Oriental Culture on his life and artistic creation,as well as his interpretation of Oriental culture and art, from which we can understand how he can use different cultures and arts to express his heart.Combining with his works,he studies and tries to create, extracting the complete theoretical value support from conception to creation.
