Edouard Vuillard (Edouard Vuillard,1868-1940) at the end of the nineteenth Century representative artists of France’s most active art group of the nabis. Nabis is produced in Gauguin symbolism and comprehensive doctrine under the direct influence of art. Although there is only a short span of ten years (1889-1899), but in the entire history of Western art are an important contribution, in inherits the predecessor achievement and to rise later in twentieth Century all kinds of western modern art schools has played an immeasurable effect. Vial as a representative of the Nabis painting, distinctive features, a blend of pure decoration, purely aesthetic idea, style has obvious characteristics of symbolism, comprehensive doctrine, the Oriental aesthetic tendency. His paintings focus on the picture of life simple, peaceful but convey the quiet, gentle, restrained the spiritual realm. The thesis attempts to make a comprehensive analysis of Vial’s painting form and content, in-depth excavation the Oriental aesthetic tendency, including the application performance of Japan’s Ukiyo-e and the traditional Chinese painting techniques in his painting, state to deeply reflect on the existence of eastern and Western art reach the same goal by different routes, express a clear personal attitude.
