In recent years,China keeps rising rapidly in various areas and becomes an important player in the international community. With increasing exchanges and interdependence among areas like politics, economy, culture, education and trade all over the world, legal exchanges take place more frequently than ever before, which makes legal translation an essential part.Besides,People's Republic of China(PRC)enjoys a short history with less than 70 years and has little experience in legislation,so translating and learning from foreign laws can be deemed as a good way to inprove our legislative level in an effort to perfect the overall legal system. The translation material adopted in this study,Law of Railways in Serbia,is the translation task from Translation Service Ltd.,Co.during my internship with modest textual length. And the author aims to conclude the translation principles and skills of legal text based on the lessons learned from the translating process. This thesis, based on Eco-translatology proposed by Professor Hu Gengshen, tries to describe and interpret translational essence, process, standard, principle and method in the perspective of "adaption/selection".Besides,it attempts to guide this practice under the translation principle "multi-dimensional adaption and adaptive selection" and translation method "three-dimensional transformation".This translation practice report is composed of 5 parts:introduction, translation process description, translation theory of legal text, case study and conclusion.Chapter One introduces the background, nature and research significance of translation task;Chapter Two describes translation process of three phrases:pre-translation,during translation, and revision and feedback after translation;Chapter Three focuses on legal translation theory;Eco-translatology,including“adaption/selection","multi-dimensional adaption and adaptive selection" and"three-dimensional transformation";Chapter Four conducts case studies from linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension;Chapter Five is conclusion, that is experience the author acquired from translation. After this translation practice, author realizes that translation is not limited to simple literal transformation and should be influenced by various factors(language, communication, culture and so on).Only under the guidance of correct and authoritative theories can better version be achieved. This thesis aims to provide better guidance and help translators working on legal translation so as to improve their translation activities and supply more reference for translation practices.
