This article focuses on the applicability of direct cinema theory in the field of folk documentaries.The theory of direct cinema is mature,and it is good at presenting the real life for a long time.In the process of documentary creation,the authenticity of the record content and the the objectivity of creative method are irreplaceable by other film theories.Folk documentary is rich in subject matter.With the society attaches great importance to cultural renaissance,the folk documentary enjoy sound development momentum.However,the folk documentary at this stage is influenced by entertainment and commercialization.The record of folk culture is separated from the original living context.The template of the didactic narrative is obvious,and the vivid point of view director gives the audience a sense of imposing.The research on the application of direct cinema theory in folk documentary aims to restore the original ecology of folk culture in the documentary by means of direct cinema so that the viewers can understand folk customs.At the same time,through the innovative application in folk documentaries,further enrich the theory of direct cinema.The introduction part of the thesis expounds the research value from three aspects:research background and significance,research status at home and abroad,analysis methods and innovation.It mainly uses text analysis,literature research,empirical research and other methods to explore the organic combination of direct cinema theory and folk works.The main part consists of five chapters.The first chapter is a theoretical interpretation of direct cinema and folk documentary.The second chapter combines the practical works from the " others' " perspective and the control of the director's desire to analyze the "outsider perspective" to restore the theoretical meeting point of the original ecology of folk life.The third chapter analyzes the role of “holding the scene” to show the integrity of folk culture from long-term research and rational use of long shots.The fourth chapter reflects on the practical applicationof the direct cinema theory in the graduation work — "Shadow Puppeteer-Closer to Shadow Artist Chen Shouke in Southern Shandong",First of all,the distinction and choice between documentary and reality.Secondly,discuss the respect and protection of privacy in the filming process.At last,discuss the way to restrain the subjective director's desires during creation.The fifth chapter is looking forward to the application trend of direct cinema theory and folk documentary in this climate based on summarizing the creative experience.The conclusion part focuses on the practical significance of the combination of direct cinema and folk documentary.It reemphasizes the importance of the theory,such as outsider perspective and holding the scene,in the direct cinema to restore the truth and enhance the cultural value of the folk documentary.It is in-depth reflection on theoretical research.
