This is a report on the translation of the first three chapters of Darwin Comes to Town. The main purpose is to develop translation skills in the process of translation,to deepen the understanding of various translation theories and methods, and at the same time,to train the ability to consult materials, learn independently and explore independently.Chapter 1 describes how ants and other ecosystem engineers create their own ecosystems,Chapter 2 describes the relationship between cities and nature and the course of urban development, and Chapter 3 focuses on the impact of alien species on the urban central ecosystem. The purpose of this translation project is to introduce readers to the evolution of urban ecosystems and the adaptation of species to new environments,to raise readers' awareness of environmental protection, and to arouse relevant research on urban ecosystems. The main process of translation consists of four stages: the first is to complete literature and professional data access;the second is to translate independently;the third is to revise under the guidance of the mentor, and the last is to summarize the whole process of translation. The translation report is one of the key points in the whole translation process. The source and linguistic features of the original text are analyzed in the translation report.Reporting,as the sublimation and conciseness of the translation process,is a theoretical process based on translation practice, which helps the translator to reflect on and improve himself. This report consists of five chapters: Chapter 1 introduces the background and significance of the project;Chapter 2 introduces the content, author and text type of the original;Chapter 3 introduces the Skopos theory, including its definition, principles and guidance for the translation project;Chapter 4 makes clear what the translation difficulties are and what translation techniques are used to solve these difficulties;and Chapter 5 is a summary of the translator's experience and shortcomings.
