| The source text of the translation project is the second chapter of the book A U.S.History of Feminisms,which is written by an American scholar and writer Rory Dicker.This book consists of five chapters,introducing three major feminist movements in the US.The second chapter,as the source text,focuses on the first wave of feminist movement from 1840s to the beginning of the 20th century,which plays a crucial role in the feminist movement of the whole world.This report includes five chapters.The first chapter gives the background of the translation project,mainly the significance of the project and the preparation work for the translation task.And the focus of the second chapter is to analyze the text type and language features of the source text.The theoretical framework is discussed in the next chapter and this chapter mainly talks about how the theory is applied to the project.As the main part of the report,the fourth chapter discusses the problems in the process of translating and gives the solutions.The final chapter summarizes the experience and lessons the translator has acquired and some unsolved problems in the project.This translation project is conducted under the guidance of the theory of Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation proposed by Peter Newmark.And this report aims to discuss how to achieve reader-oriented translations by the combination of Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation and corresponding translating skills to realize the communication between the original text and the target readers. |
