At present, more and more attention has been paid to the study of political translation, and many scholars have done a lot of work in this field. The translation of central political documents is a complex social and cultural behavior in literary translation.Manipulation theory refers to the fact that all translation is purposeful manipulation of the original text on certain extent, and the generation and acceptance of translation are controlled by three elements, which are ideology, poetics and patronage. On the one hand, the translator is constrained and regulated by the discourse of the subject's cultural power;on the other hand,he has subjective initiative. The translator's subjectivity must be publicized and its subjectivity is anti-manipulative."Selected works of Deng Xiaoping" is one of the important political documents in China. This is the representative of contemporary ideology and the guiding ideology of socialist modernization. It represents the mainstream ideology and is the guiding ideology of China's modernization construction and development."Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping" is one of the representative works of central political documents, which highlights the language style of political documents. The political views contained in the "Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping" is reflected in the language of the works, which makes the style diplomatic, folkloric nature and temporal spirit. The second volume includes sixty important talks made by comrade Deng Xiaoping from 1975 to 1982 on such issues as politics, economy, science, education, literature, art, the united front, the construction of the party and the army. These talks can be divided into two parts.Deng Xiaoping's speech in 1975 witnessed his determination to end the turmoil of the "cultural revolution" that began in 1966 and bring excellent order to all fields of work.Based on the Theory of Manipulation School, this paper explores the Macro social cultural context of political translation and the control of the non-linguistic factors on translation. However, due to undeniable defects of Lefevere's theory its limited applicability to political works,on the one hand,it must refer to some other translation strategies and principles for a better understanding. In addition, this paper not only takes the three essential factors of Lefevere's as the basis, but also takes thetranslator's subjectivity as another important manipulation factor in translation. In the following chapters, the author discusses all of these manipulative factors in translation. Finally,it concludes that the ideology, poetics and sponsors of the time did influence translation strategies. As the main body of text compilation,it has a great influence on the translation. This manuscript is divided into five parts. The details are as follows:Chapter one is the introduction, which introduces the origin, significance, research methods and structure of thesis writing.First of all,the possibility of analyzing thetranslation of "Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping".Chapter two examines the literature review and summarizes the previous studies on ideology, poetics and the relationship between patron and translator. The third chapter describes the theoretical basis of the thesis.Firstly,it introduces the origin of Lefevere's Manipulation Theory, the concept of its three main influencing factors(ideology, poetics and patronage),and the effect of the three factors on literary translation.Giving an example of "Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping and studying the principles and strategies of manipulation theory on translation. The fourth chapter discusses another important manipulation factor--subjectivity.In this paper, the subjectivity of political papers is considered to be a dialectical unity of manipulation and manipulation. On the one hand, political papers are restricted by the authority of texts and social and political ideologies,so they do not have much control over translation purposes, principles and other major issues. On the other hand,as the direct executor of translation, the translator still has the right to control the text, thus showing great creativity in vocabulary selection and sentence pattern. In other words, subjectivity controls the production of translation under the control of sociopolitical ideology. This is also the most important factor in the future political document translation.Chapter five summarizes the main points of each chapter, which is the summary of the full text, summarizes the key points of the paper, and points out the positive significance and shortcomings of the paper.
