"Four-character Structure" is a unique and independent linguistic unit,it has symmetrical word-formation,rich and profound ideographical expression, therefore,it is an important symbol which can embody the theme of articles and the spirit of expressions.Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping is the main content of Deng Xiaoping Theory,it is also the important constituent part of socialist theory with Chinese characteristics. Its linguistic feature can be summarized as concise and vigorous, simple and unadorned, short and brief, full of four-character.The method and rules of Japanese translation of four-character structure can be explored by researching the Japanese of the four-character structure in Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping to provide a reference and enlightenment of the Japanese translation of the four-character structure in the same central government documents. This paper is based on the functional equivalence translation theory of Nida, takes the original work of Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II,??????(1975?-1982?)?which is translated by Central Compilation&Translation Bureau and published by Foreign Languages Press and???????(???????)?which is translated by Japan China Research Society and published by Japan Fubaisha as the research scope. This paper uses the research method of comparison of translation versions to research the Japanese translation of"Fixed Four-character Structure"in Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II.Firstly,the"Fixed Four-character"in Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II is divided into two directions of"idiom four-character structure"and"non-idiom four-character structure"for analysis.Secondly, the translation characteristics and the selection tendency of the translation strategies of the same source language of the four-character structure in the two translation version are arranged and summarized by comparing the translation. At the same time, the different translations of the four-character structure of the two versions have been selected to make questionnaire for the Japanese audiences.Japanese audiences'effect of reception has been analyzed in accordance with the data of the survey data to generally grasp the accepted characteristics of the Japanese audience on the Japanese translation of the four-character structure in Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II.At last, the suggestions of the translation strategies have been given to the Japanese translation of the different four-character structure in Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II.This paper uses the core theories of functional equivalence theory, such as "the closest natural equivalence ","four steps in the translation process","reader reaction","translation and communication" and "language culture and translation",etc.to analyze the Japanese translation of the fixed four-character structure of Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II.By comparing the translations,it can be known that,79.3% Japanese translations of the four-character structure are same(or similar)and have the same(or similar)translation strategies, which approves that Chinese and Japanese translation teams have the same opinion on handling most four-character structure. The translation strategies of those four-character structure can provide reliable reference for the Japanese translation of the four-character structure in the same central government documents. On the other hand,by analyzing data of the questionnaire of the different Chinese and Japanese translation version of the remaining 20.7% four-character structure,it can be known that, the translation of Central Compilation & Translation Bureau has relatively obvious advantages in the translation of "idiom four-character structure",while the both versions have their own advantages in the translation of "non-idiom four-character structure".The advantage of Chinese translation version is that,it can more accurately and more appropriately represent the information and spirit of the source language, the Chinese translation version pays more attention to the equivalent transfer "in function" and "commutation effect" of the translation. While the collocation Japanese translation in the Japanese translation version is more natural, the understandability of the translation should be referred. This paper takes "four-character structure" as the unit to research the Japanese translation of Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II for the first time. The analysis is conducted in two directions of "idiom" and "non-idiom" after the overall carding and classification of the four-character structure in Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II.The generality and the isomerism of the Japanese translation of four-character structure in Chinese and Japanese versions have been discussed with objective and detailed translation linguistic data after the comparison of Chinese and Japanese translation versions. Then, the Japanese translation of the four-character structure has been interpreted from the vision of Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping Vol.II,the function of the translation, translation process, communication effect and language culture, etc.in accordance with the "functional equivalence" translation theory of Nida, which confirms that, the functional equivalence theory has the guiding significance for the translation research of central government documents. At last, effective translation strategies are put forward for the Japanese translation of four-character structure with different types for the reference of the Japanese translation of the four-character structure in the same central government documents.
