The modal adverb is one of the important branches under the category of adverbs. The modal adverb has strong subjectivity, which can convey the speaker’s attitude and opinion. In most cases, grasping the tone and potential meaning of the whole sentence is a must in our daily discourse communication. An indispensable class of words, because of its flexible usage and diverse positions in sentences,is a major barrier for foreign students to learn Chinese, and it is also a high-risk zone for bias. This paper selects the more characteristic “X SHI” adverbs in the modal adverbs as the research object.“QI SHI/QUE SHI/ZHUO SHI” contains the common morpheme “SHI” and both contain the common meaning “to indicate that the situation or trait of the matter is confirmed as true.” In addition, there are some differences in the meanings of colors, syntactic position and usage function between them. Also,no one has classified them into systematic research before. Therefore, the in-depth discussion of this subject has certain academic value and innovation. In the vocabulary level,“QUE SHI” belongs to the class-A-word,and “QI SHI” belongs to the class-C-word.The author has read the commonly used general Chinese textbooks for foreign languages and found that these two words are often distributed in the intermediate and advanced comprehensive courses and literacy courses. However, the annotations in the book are the most basic meanings, which do not match the rich usage and frequency in daily use.In the first part, the author starts from the language ontology in the three planes to compare and analyze to find the similarities and differences within the language: lexical meaning, syntactic structure and pragmatic function. In the second part, the author combines the biased content generated by the students in the HSK corpus when using “QI SHI” and “QUE SHI”.After the quantitative analysis,it is found that the “QI SHI” bias mainly focuses on the writing of typos, misuse, improper mismatch, and composition of the imperfect. The reasons for this are the similar glyphs, the unclear synonym, the different positions of syntactic adverbs and the mistakes caused by chaotic logic. In the third part, the author summarizes the types and causes of errors and the characteristics of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. In the preparation of textbooks, the author gives some suggestions, such as strengthening the pertinence of after-class exercises, paying attention to the comparison of semantics and usage, and increasing the proportion of vocabulary teaching settings. In the classroom teaching of the “X SHI” adverbs, the author also puts forward some suggestions on the application of vocabulary teaching in the teaching of sub-teaching,logical elaboration, clear hierarchy and language practice. This paper conducts the ontology research, comparative analysis and error analysis for the “X SHI” adverbs and gives corresponding textbook writing and classroom teaching suggestions, hoping to play a certain role in promoting the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language and related theoretical research.
