With the continuous advancement of English education reform,cultivating students' autonomous learning ability has become one of the hot topics in high school English teaching reform.The new curriculum reform emphasizes the change of students' learning style and advocates the construction of teacher-led,student-centered free learning mode.Under the new curriculum standard,one of the goals of English teaching is to cultivate students' autonomous ability.Therefore,autonomous learning is of great significance to students' lifelong learning.Based on some related theories about autonomous learning and the domestic and foreign researches and combined with the requirements of New English Curriculum Standards for teachers and students,this study adopts questionnaire survey and interview method.The questionnaire was conducted among 200 students of N0.1 high school in Mudanjiang city,and 8 English teachers and 10 students were interviewed.The investigation is divided into five dimensions: motivation and attitude,planning,self-monitoring,extracurricular resource utilization,self-evaluation and adjustment.The purpose is to understand the English autonomous learning of high school students.The results show that in the process of high school students' autonomous learning,most of them have the consciousness of autonomous learning and have some advantages and disadvantages.In view of the existing problems,this study attempts to put forward some feasible suggestions for English teaching and students to improve their autonomous learning ability.
