A Translation Report On The Michelangelo And I(Chapter 1—5)

This paper is an English-Chinese translation report.The source text is taken from Michelangelo and I,a memoir of art written in the form of literature,and it is an expressive text.The paper selects chapter one to five of the book as the source text,which tells us a story about fresco restoration in the Sistine Chapel.In this book,the author tells us some interesting stories during his work and related professional fresco restoration techniques from the view of first person.Its translation into Chinese is of great significance to the translation of related art and fresco restoration books.Using the book Michelangelo and I as a case study,this paper can be divided into four chapters:the introduction of the source text,the translation process,the analysis of the examples and the conclusion of this translation practice.The first chapter mainly describes the source and content of the source text and the goal and significance of the report,which is a general description of the whole paper.Chapter two mainly discusses the preparation of the translation practice,the problems and difficulties the author met in the first draft,the methods chosen to solve the problems and the polish of the final draft.Chapter three is the core chapter of the report,mainly focusing on vocabulary,terminology and sentence to analyze the translation methods and strategy in detail.Chapter four is the conclusion of this translation practice,concerning not only the author's experience and gains but the problems and insufficiencies in this practice.
