English writing,which is to train students' capacity from the perspective of output,is of the same status and importance as reading,speaking and listening.Writing is also a process that needs students' attention.Not only should students master the usage of syntax,vocabulary and grammar,but they are supposed to have a good command of the content and organization according to H.D.Brown,a linguist.However,under the background of the exam-oriented education,teachers prefer to use the traditional approach to teach writing,which gives rise to more problems existing in students' writing.Meanwhile,obstacles existing in students' writing including the scarcity of vocabulary,low confidence and lack of interest impede the development of a composition.Thus,it is high time to have an alteration in the teaching method.In 1984,Palincsar put forward the notion of the interactive teaching method.It stresses that teachers attach importance to the writing process and interactive activities of diversity.The teacher-student interaction and the student-student interaction are adopted to train students so as to achieve the aims of arousing their learning interest and cultivating their writing capacity.In order to help the teachers become more skillful in the teaching of writing and arouse students' learning interest so as to make the writing class more effective,the author adopts the interactive teaching method for the teaching of writing in English class.By applying the interactive teaching method based on the constructivism and the interaction hypothesis,this thesis is trying to figure out three research questions.They are listed as follows.(1)How can the interactive teaching method be effectively implemented into English writing class in senior high school?(2)What impact will the interactive teaching method have on students' English writing competence?(3)What is the impact of the interactive teaching method on students' attitude towards English writing?To figure out the above questions,a questionnaire is carried out to know students' writing interest,feelings and opinions about English writing in the experimental class before and after the application of the interactive teaching method.During the operation of the experiment,the teaching materials are the same.The teacher is the author and the students have the same English writing level.What is different is the method used in two classes.The EC uses the interactive teaching method where various interactive activities are involved.The controlled class still uses the traditional teaching method.Through the comparison between the applications of two different methods in two parallel classes,the effect on various aspects in students' writing competence is likely to be displayed.In order to obtain more information of students' feedback on English writing in the interactive teaching method in the EC,some students in the experimental class are picked out at random to finish the interview in the end of the experiment.Chapter one is to provide an introduction for this thesis.Chapter two expounds literature review.Chapter three introduces theoretical framework.Chapter four is concerned with research design.It is the most important chapter that gives an outline of what procedures the interactive teaching method follows and how the method is used in the writing class in the senior middle school.Chapter five offers data analysis.Chapter six arrives at the conclusion of the paper.From this practical research,it is displayed that the interactive teaching method is effective in the teaching of writing in senior middle school,which can develop students' writing competence and interest.Meanwhile,the whole experimental procedures as well as the findings and inspirations are hopeful to provide certain advice and enlightenment to the following researchers or teachers.But there still exist limitations in the research.Then more studies should be carried out by teachers so that students can benefit more from the interactive teaching method.
