In the face of the increasingly serious environmental problems, the international community has come to realize that the development of economy should not be achieved at the expense of world forests. To achieve the goal of eradicating poverty and promoting common prosperity,it is necessary to increase investment in the forestry industry and its value chain. Therefore, the translator, appointed by the Economic Development Research Center under the State Forestry Administration(SFAEDRC),translates the Forest Action Plan FY2016-2020.The translation project, upon which this present report is based, involves translating the English version of the Forest Action Plan FY2016-2020 published by the World Bank Group in April 2016 into Chinese. The Action Plan,a summary of the World Bank's propositions concerning the value of world forests and the multiple roles they play in poverty alleviation, economic development, employment, climate change and etc.,is a solemn declaration about the WB's commitment to promoting the sustainable development of world economy and human societies. In this project report,a reflective account will be presented to give a general picture about the implementation of the translation project, highlighting the gains as well as lessons that have been obtained during the process. In particular, detailed analysis concerning my handling of some specific cases,at lexical, syntactical and discoursal levels, will be done to explore the typical difficulties in translating such materials and strategies/methods that translators can adopt for their solution. It is sincerely hoped that this report will not only help me to take a stock of what I have learnt during my 2-year graduate study, but also shed some lights on how translation projects concerning similar texts/documents could be carried out most effectively to obtain optimal outcomes.
