This is a report on the English-Chinese translation of the guide book Life Is Long!:50+ Ways to Help You Live a Little Bit Closer to Forever. The English source text features in a large number of special pronouns and some culture-loaded words, which makes the source text interesting on the one hand, but increases the difficulty of the translation on the other hand. The paper analyzes typical cases in this translation task from the perspective of the Context Theory and discusses the translation strategies of pronouns,culture-loaded words, long and difficult sentences and paragraphs in detail. This report mainly consists of four chapters.Chapter one is a brief introduction to the translation task including the background of the task, the source of translation materials and the structure of the report.Chapter two mainly describes the whole process of the translation task in three parts, namely, the preparation for the translation task, the translating process as well as the feedback on the task.Chapter three is a case study on translation in which the author starts with an overview of the development of the Context Theory, and then makes an analysis of the E-C translation methods of special pronouns,culture-loaded words, long and difficult sentences and paragraphs based on the Context Theory. And the fourth chapter summarizes the findings in the case study, and the experiences and lessons the author has gained through the task. The practice shows that translators can appropriately use the methods of substitution, ellipsis, literal translation and free translation to deal with the translation of pronouns,culture-loaded words, long and difficult sentences and paragraphs in the source text by analyzing the text context and the cultural context.Special attention needs to be paid to the logical relationship and the context between sentences and paragraphs so as to achieve the consistency in the meaning and style among sentences, paragraphs and the context of the whole text.
