An Action Research Of Chinese Grammar Teaching Based On Construction-Chunks Approach

As China grows stronger,Mandarin being more and more important.In order to improve the ability to compete,to get a better job,there is a growing number of Malays studying Mandarin.Grammar is an integral part in learning Mandarin.Due to the negative transfer of the language,sometimes the Malay learners can not fully grasp the grammar or expressions in Mandarin."Construction-chunks" approach emphasis on the integrated acquisition and usage on the learning content.It guides the learners to understand and master the characteristics of Chinese language in a easier way.An action research which focus on teaching grammar with"Construction-Chunks" approach to the Malay learner was conducted.The action research was divided into two round.The first round would be focus on the language point that have learned but still cannot master it well by the students and its purpose is to help the students to revise the language point with "Construction-chunks" approach.The second round is focus on the language point that never learn before by the students and with the "Construction-chunks" approach,it seeks to help them to master the language point in an easier way and boost up their interest in learning Chinese grammar.The results were as follow:First,the "Construction-chunks" approach is very useful among Malay learners.Second,the "Construction-chunks" approach is very useful during revision.Third,the "Construction-chunks" approach helps to improve the grammatical skills of Malay Learners.Fourth,the "Construction-chunks" approach can stimulate students'enthusiasm and increase their interest in learning Mandarin.Besides,the shortcomings of this research and some suggestions on "Construction-chunks" approach were also mentioned in this thesis.
