This paper is a translation project report. The source text of this paper is the third part of the book,The Negotiation Challenge: How to Win Negotiation Competitions, which is initially published by Econnections Sp.z o.o.in June 2018.This book is composed by two authors, who not only give a detailed introduction about the negotiation competition but also provide several negotiation role-play simulations for students to practice their negotiation skills.Since there are few books which introduces practice skills of negotiation in China and the translator is interested in business negotiation, she chooses to translate this book with her two partners.Universities in China do not have enough information about such international negotiation competitions, therefore,it is extremely difficult for them to win in this competition. This book provides a detailed introduction about TNC,which may help Chinese students get more information about this competition and participate in it.Therefore,it is worthy to be translated. The source text belongs to informative texts.Katharina Reiss(2004)says that the main function of informative texts is to convey information of the source text to readers. Thus the translator focus on the translation of the content rather than the form of the original text.Nida's functional equivalence theory also advocates that content is more important than form. Therefore, the translator chooses functional equivalence to guide the translation project. The author introduces functional equivalence from four aspects: lexical, syntactical, discourse and stylistic equivalence. Many translation strategies and methods, such as addition, omission and division and so on,are used to solve translation difficulties. This translation report includes five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction of the background, significance, translation process of the translation project. The second chapter is the analysis of the original text, including the introduction about the content and the analysis about the language style of the original text. The third chapter introduces functional equivalence, the translation theory that guides the translation process. The fourth chapter includes case study and discussions about the translation strategies applied to the translation. The last chapter is the summary of lessons drawn from the translation project and problems tobe solved in the future.
