With the development of the global film industry, movies are increasingly integrated into the daily life of the public. Many people today are likely to know the behind-the-scenes stories and the staffs behind the films.Besides, biographical books have been popular with readers, which can help readers better understand the biographical characters and discover their self-goal and self-worth.Therefore,the translator selects George Lucas: A Life as the translation material, which was written by American writer Brian Jay Jones. The book narrates the life and career of George Lucas who is a famous director, screenwriter and producer of films in the United States. This thesis is based on the translation of the first section of the first part of the book. This section describes the life experiences of the older generation of George Lucas and his youthful growth, showing readers the family background of Lucas and the real life of his youth. The original text embraces a lot of idiomatic English expressions.During the translation process, the translator regards the Skopos theory as the basis for translation, focusing on the purpose of translation and putting the reader's reading purpose in the first place. After analyzing the cultural knowledge background of the popular readers and the actual purposes of reading, the translator strives to obtain the appropriate translation for the original text under the current stage. This thesis lists the various problems encountered in the translation process, such as long sentences, loss of cultural information, unclear timeline and unintelligible sentences.Under the guidance of the Skopos theory, the translator tries to tackle with these problems by various translation strategies, such as division, amplification and free translation, and aims to apply the Skopos theory to the biography.
