The translated text in this report selected Dimensions of Australian Society published by Brian Graetz and Ian McAllister in 1994 for E-C translation,which belongs to informative texts.At present,there are few domestic studies on Australia.This book describes its demographic characteristics in detail and has high research value.The translator has translated the third chapter-Gender,which mainly belongs to the Gender studies in the demographic and social dimension,including gender and stratification,attitudes to women and work,the household division of labour,women and politics,and the changing role of women.This translation practice report mainly consists of four parts: translation task description,translation process description,translation case analysis and translation conclusion.In the translation practice,the translator finds that there are many passive voice and adverb conversion in this text.Therefore,in translating and analyzing text,the translator studies passive voice and adverb convertion under the guidance of the famous translator Peter Newmark's Semantic and Communicative translation.Through the translation practice report,more scholars can learn about the culture and history of Australia,and provide referential translations for domestic and culture-loving readers.
