| The task of this translation practice is to select the Chapter 6 Religion of Dimensions of Australian Society as the translation material,this chapter which mainly introduces what religions people in Australia believe in,what the doctrines of each religion are and what influence of religion has on people's lives,which belongs to the informative text.Due to there is less research on Australian culture in China than on British and American culture,this book provides a systematic and comprehensive overview of Australia's social and religious system with high credibility and great research value.There is no translation of this book in China.This report mainly includes four parts: the description of translation tasks,the description of translation process,the analysis of translation cases and the summary of translation practice.Through the analysis of the translated text and translation results,the translator found that the difficulties in this translation practice mainly come from the conversion of voice and part of speech: the application of passive voice and the conversion of affirmative and negative sentence.Therefore,in the case study,guided by Vermeer's Skopos Theory,the translator adopted many corresponding translation methods to solve the difficulties encountered in translation: for passive voice,the translator adopted the method of converting into active voice and into the subjectless sentence;For the conversion of affirmative and negative,the translator adopted lexical transformation and structural adjustment.This translation practice report can provide some reference value for Australian religious culture research and translation. |
