A Practice Report On Interpretation For Basketball Training From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

There is no doubt that NBA has made a great contribution to the development of basketball all over the world.An increasing number of countries,including China,has focused on basketball training.Supported by national policies,local governments and parents,basketball training aiming at youth has become a new emerging industry.Besides,with the fast development of economy in our country,external communication has been deepen.In basketball terms,foreign coaches and assistants are invited to improve the strength of teams by introducing different methods of basketball training.It is a way that will be of great benefit to both students and clubs.Fortunately,the author served as an interpreter for the foreign basketball coach in Zhengzhou DM Basketball Training Club from September to November 2018.All examples in this report were chosen from materials that the author collected during the project,including interpretation for daily training and regular meetings.Guided by Skopos Theory,the author successfully completed this project and in this report,she analyzed practice materials under the framework of Skopos Theory as well,aiming to further understand the application of Skopos Theory and summarize how to strike a balance among three rules(skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule)under different contexts.This report deepens the understanding of the author towards Skopos Theory and reveals many problems that the author did not notice before.More importantly,it intends to sum up practical interpretation strategies,including addition,conversion,and negation,in the field of basketball in accordance with Skopos Theory and provide reference for more interpreters who engage in basketball interpretation.
