| Psychology is commonly considered as a science devoted to human behavior and cognitive processes.With the development of the times,the role of psychology in solving human problems can not be underestimated.Studying psychology can help people deeply understand the essence of self and social development.Although psychology has made progress in some aspects,there are still many problems that have not yet been clearly concluded due to complex causes.This has also led to the discussion of these hot issues among psychology professionals with different positions.Although their sides are different,the clashing views of all parties provide various perspectives for exploring human problems and have great significance for promoting the development of psychology.This thesis is an E-C translation report.The translation text are the excerpts of Taking Sides—Clashing Views on Psychological Issues by Brent Slife,a well-known psychological professor and PhD supervisor specializing in clinical psychology at Brigham Young University.The book provides an overview of the basics of psychology and presents opposite opinions about controversial psychological issues,which stem from many seasoned psychological professionals.The clashing views are specifically demonstrated through debates between the positive side and the negative side.The selected texts belong to the information-based texts of social sciences and are intended to provide readers with information of social sciences.The text involves extensive psychological knowledge and cites many classical psychological research cases.Positive and negative argumentation articles originate from newspapers,court arguments and scientific research papers.They are authentic,authoritative and logically strong,and focus more on conveying effective information.Therefore,guided by Katarina Reiss' s text type theory,this translation report explores translation strategies from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels.This translation report is mainly divided into four parts: the first part is the description of the translation tasks,including project background,text description,topic selection and translation difficulties;the second part is the introduction of translation process,which involves preparation of translation theories,tools and difficulties encountered in the process of preliminary draft to final draft;the third part is the key part of the report,with theoretical and case analysis.This chapter also lists the general rules of English-Chinese translation and many strategies to help improve the translation effect.The fourth part is to summarize the translation experience and lessons learned from this translation practice.It is hoped that this translation report can provide a reference for future informative text translation. |
