Study On Sign Design Based On The Visual Characteristics Of Dongba Character

Dongba language,as a kind of pictorial character symbol,the development and evolution of its characters are the needs of Naxi nationality information expression.The font form and structure expression of Dongba characters fully follow the changing rules of the development of things,which is an objective expression of the state of things.Under the unique visual form of Dongba character,it contains abundant graphic structure.The formation of Dongba hieroglyphics is a process from nature to character image,which is contrary to the design idea of sign symbol from text information to image.This paper attempts to use Dongba's visual configuration for reference to deduce the design of sign graphics,and to expand the representation of sign graphics design.This study takes Dongba visual form as the starting point to deeply study the reason and method of forming this kind of visual form.And the method that can be applied to modern sign design is extracted from it.On the basis of collecting abundant literature and investigating examples,this paper uses theoretical guidance,comparative analysis,statistical analysis and other research methods to draw the conclusion that the composition of Dongba hieroglyphs mainly includes three categories:single character,combination character and add drop character.According to the analysis of the visual form of Dongba language and the review of the relevant documents and books of Dongba character structure analysis,the change rule of Dongba font form and the three combination modes of Dongba single element characters are obtained:parallel combination,hierarchical combination and language expression combination.In addition,the design of sign graphics is deeply analyzed from the following four aspects of graphic semiotics:linguistic environment,signifier signification,constitutive logic and design form.On this basis,the author makes a deep contrast and analysis on the ways of forming graphics,the expression of context,the composition of logic and the expression of visual form,and sums up the tendency and difference in the design methods between the two.Based on the above analysis,the composition and combination logic of various visual structures in Dongba hieroglyphs can be used for reference and applied to modern sign graphic design.Finally,on the basis of the above theoretical analysis,this paper makes a clear exposition of the design principles and methods of sign design based on the visual characteristics of Dongba characters The theoretical method is used to design a set of instruction sign for fruit and vegetable juicer and related matching recommendation description sign to prove the feasibility of the method.The sign design method seeks to illustrate the operation instructions of a sufficiently complex product with minimal identification graphics.It can be used as a reference for the future design of sign graphics.
