A Simultaneous Interpreting Report Of Intelligence Changes The World Under The Principle Of Syntactic Linearity

Simultaneous interpretation has become the major communication means in international exchanges with its high efficiency and speed.In simultaneous interpretation,the interpreter needs to listen,memorize and output the source language without interrupting the speaker's speech.In order to ensure the accuracy and fluency of the interpretation,the interpreter will generally follow the syntactic linearity principle,and convert the source language in a simple and natural way.The syntactic linearity principle is the primary principle in simultaneous interpretation.This report applies the syntactic linearity strategy in the practice of simultaneous interpretation.The author takes Jack Ma's speech Intelligence Changes the World as an example.By applying the segmentation tactic,addition tactic,deletion tactic and conversion tactic of the syntactic linearity principle,the author simulates the simultaneous interpretation practice and records it successfully.In this report,the author mainly discusses and analyzes the practical cases applying the syntactic linearity principle in simultaneous interpretation.The author selects representative examples from the interpreting material,classifies them according to their types,and discusses the effects of applying the syntactic linearity principle in improving the accuracy and fluency of the simultaneous interpretation.Through this practice,the author finds that the syntactic linearity principle does not mean that the source language and the target language are in one-to-one correspondence.By applying the syntactic linearity principle,the interpreter's oral expression is accurate and smooth.At the same time,the interpreter can save time and reduce the memory burden by applying the syntactic linearity principle in simultaneous interpretation.The report is beneficial for the interpreter to recognize the importance of the syntactic linearity principle in Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation and improve the quality of interpretation.
