A Translation Report On The Four:The Hidden DNA Of Amazon,Apple,Facebook And Google(Chapter 2)

This translation report is based on the translation of the second chapter of The Four:The Hidden DNA ofAmazon,Apple,Facebook and Google by Professor Scott Galloway of the school of business,New York University.The second chapter introduces the reason of amazon’s success which is lying in capturing the human beings’ instinct for collecting and hunting as well as their endless desire for material wealth,and also lying in making purchase convenient for people.Amazon,with the lowest cost,builds its own sales empire,leaving competitors in the dust.Amazon constantly improves its competitiveness and efficiency,one-click purchase,unmanned convenience stores,robot warehouse and other artificial intelligence.The company uses technology to increase productivity while absorbing cheap capital,improving their productivity and competitiveness.This report analyzes and summarizes the translation strategies from the levels of vocabulary and sentences,and analyzes how to accurately express the author’s meaning while maintaining the st)lle of the original text.By means of amplification,the implied leaning is expressed for readers to understand.On the basis of mastering the meaning of the original text,contextualization is used to improve the readability of the translation and the accuracy of the expression.For the proper nrouns or brand names in the report,the translator uses annotation method to explain their meanings,so that readers can have a clear understanding.At the sentence level,based on word order transformation,voice transformation and translatiOJi,the translator reasonably breaks down the sentences,transforms the parts of speech in Chinese and English,and adjusts the sentence order,so as to obtain a smoother and more accurate translation.Through writing of this translation report,the author not only improved the translation ability,learned to use translation strategies to get a better translation,but also learned a more complete knowledge about translation theory and framework in mind.Moreover,it provides some references for the writing of i-elevant parallel texts and enriches readers’ knowledge of Amazon.
