The Translation Strategies Analysis Of Words And Long Sentences In The Science And Technology Articles

This is a translation report, the translated text is chosen from "When global Conservation Meets Local Livelihoods:People and Parks in Central America" written by John Schelhas and Max J. Pfeffer. It is an academic research paper. The two authors are experts of researches concerning environmental value, ecological protection, community interests and so on. In recent years, two authors have been in the cooperative study, it is a typical paper of their papers. Recently environmental issues occurs frequently, such as extremely winter, heat wave, fog haze an so on, all countries focus these issues seriously, I also paid great attention to these problems. So, I choose this paper for translation practice and research.This is a science and technology article which is related to the environmental protection. The writing styles of science and technology article are accurate and concise, so translation of this kind of articles should meet these basic requirements. In this report, we aim to apply the proper translation strategies to translate these words and long sentences accurately and concisely through taking some typical examples. In addition, we expect that it can help to enrich the database of translation and research of science and technology articles. The first chapter introduces the reasons of choosing this article, the meaning of this project and feasibility analysis. The second chapter introduces the two authors and background. The third chapter proposes the difficult points and meanwhile puts forward the methods and strategies dealing with that. The fourth chapter is the most important part which analyses the application of the strategies of words and long sentences. The fifth chapter summarizes the thesis which includes the things we have learned, and points out the translation limitation, besides, we put forward some suggestion for further study.
