The exchange of film culture is an important means of cultural exchange between countries. The exchange of film culture enables two countries to have a deeper understanding of each other;in addition, learning from each other and helping each other can improve the relationship between the two countries.Facilitating the exchange of Chinese and Hungarian film culture can play an important role in strengthening the friendship between China and Hungary as well. This paper studies the influence of Hungarian films in China. In addition to the general study of "Hungarian film in China" in the last century,it focuses on and summarizes the contemporary Hungarian director,Bela Tarr's films, film concept, film style, and studies the propagation of Tarr in contemporary Chinese film,as well as his influence on Chinese contemporary film. The first chapter summarizes the background of the research, the purpose and significance of the research,as well as the research methods of this paper, and carries out a literature review. The second chapter summarizes the history of Hungarian film and the spread of Hungarian film and film aesthetics in China. This chapter sets forth the status of Hungarian film in the history of world cinema and catalogues Hungarian directors and films that Chinese filmmakers and film critics have been most interested in throughout the last century. The third chapter outlines Tarr's film resume, his film concept and his profound influence on world cinema. For writing this chapter,Hungarian and Chinese research materials as well as various interviews have been used. The study of this chapter may deepen the understanding of Tarr's films and film concept. The fourth chapter studies the position of Tarr's films in the contemporary Chinese context,as well as analyses the relationship between his films and Chinese contemporary avant-garde film.In this chapter,I compare the film style of Tarr and three contemporary Chinese film directors, emphasizing the connection between their style and Tarr's unique long take aesthetics. As a Hungarian Chinese learner,I hope to promote the exchange of film culture between China and Hungary by writing this paper,as well as to facilitate the cross-cultural exchange of humanities and arts between the two countries through the exchange of film culture.
