As a famous minister for opium banning in the end of Qing dynasty,Huang Juezi is not only an excellent politician,but also an outstanding litterateur.At present,educational circles have litter study about his poems,so this paper will study his poems base on his poetry anthology with other relate materials.According to his life and situation of making friends,this paper divided his life into three stages: school life in his early age;official career;working college in his later years.When he was in school life,he had gifts and worked hard,so he became the example of scholars.When he was in official career,he observed the people's condition and worked strictly,he strongly advocated prohibiting opium,against the enemy and protected his country,so he is the example of official.When he was working college,he knew education without consideration of personal gain and gave his life to teaching.So he became the example of teachers.Huang Juezi is willing to make friends and forms organizations of literati,so this paper discusses his situation of making friends from XuanNan and JiangTing poetry societies.The XuanNan and JiangTing poetry societies are the most important poetry societies for him.they are also the groups of scholar-officials in Beijing,whose representative is Huang Juezi.Those participants are congenial to him and his bosom friend in literature and strong supporters in political.According to his poetry content,this paper divided it into five stages: describing landscapes,expressing feelings for scenery;surveying the country's situation with concern,sighing people's suffering;singing and presenting each other with gifts,farewell and missing friends;history commenting and remembering the ancient times,recalling the past in the light of the present,worrying about country;expressing aspiration in virtue of things,bearing far-reaching significance.His poetry describing landscapes express his rich feelings and attitude.His poetry surveying the country's situation with concern reflect tough times and people's hardship,express his worry about societies and kind-heartedness.His poetry about friends have sincere emotion and treasure for his friends.His poetry about history and ancient times express his ambition and that he concentrates on country when he was facing history.His poetry about things contains his deep emotion and great ambition.His poems have much themes and prominent artistic characteristics.There are poems about writing group poem,which advances step by step and clearly and strongly expresses his feelings.There are poems about coming straight to the point,which expresses his subjects and emotion straightly.The use of allusion is helpful to express implicit and abundant feelings with fewer words.The use of exaggeration is helpful to outlet his strong feeling and has strong subjective color and enhance the momentum of poetry.The abundant content and prominent artistic characteristics of Huang Juezi's poems is contributed by three factors: social and historical reasons,poem origin for learning many predecessors,poetry views.political corruption,invasion of enemies and a large number of vagrants form the social reasons of his poem writing;the learning to LiBai and DuFu,influences of Wang Shizhen and Shen Deqian,advocating humanistic pragmatism and true feelings,having many features,all of these become the personal reasons of abundant content and prominent artistic characteristics.the social reasons make Huang Juezi pay attention to the reality.His choice of poetic themes is often closely related to the current social situation.For personal reasons,under the influence of predecessors' poems and thoughts,the subject matter and content of his poems are enriched.Huang Juezi paid attention to the revelation of social reality and revealed the concern of the country and the people.The proposition of "body,spirit,principle and law" reflects his requirement of both content and emotion.Because of the idea of "expressing fleelings",so his poems are spontaneous,every word is heartfelt.
