| With the rapid growth in global technology,the communication among the world is getting closer and plays a great role in the development of economy,society and culture.China has achieved a huge success in technology,but the advanced foreign theories are still needed for further research.Most of the overseas companies investing in China have their own technical requirements and design specifications on their equipment,so the Chinese enterprises need to follow their rules.While all the regulations and texts are in English or other language which is hard for Chinese staffs.So the texts need to be translated.However,for translators without any engineering background,it brings great challenges on how to deal with technical terms,syntactic structures and language style in a more comprehensive way in translation.Based on the translation and studying of project report on Owner's Technical Requirement(Chapter 25.0-25.9.15)(referred to OTR hereafter),the author analyzes problems encountered during the process and writes this report,with theory guidance of Text Typology posed by Reiss.The report consists of five chapters.First of all,chapter one is project description,including introduction,source text analysis and target reader analysis.Then,chapter two is translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation arrangement,post-translation proofreading and revision,and feed-backs of translation work.Chapter three is translation theory,including brief introduction to Text Typology and the selection of translation strategy based on the theory.Chapter four is case analysis,including translation of lexical level and textual level.Conclusion is the final chapter to put forward some suggestions.The author hopes to study the translation skills of this text,and come up with a suitable way to translate the familiar text,not only to improve translating ability through this report,but also to provide a professional reference for the other parts of the text and relevant texts. |
