A Contrastive Study Of The Themes In The Movie Adaptation Of Li Bihua's Classic Novels

Film has been closely related to literature since its birth,and the comparative study between them has always been a hot topic.When artistic forms of expression are skillfully transformed in language and audio-visual aspects,the different subtle trends of the two different forms of artistic expression deserve more attention and discussion.Li Bihua's novels and her adapted films are mutually successful,and almost all her novels have been put on the screen.The mysterious woman writer,who was unwilling to appear in public,was also a film writer and left a strong mark in Hong Kong's film literature in the 20 th century.At present,academic research on Li Bihua's novel and film adaptation has been heated,but there are few comparative analysis on the theme trend of several classic works after adaptation.This paper attempts to make a comparative analysis of the different themes and aesthetic value judgments of Li Bihua's novels and the adapted classic films,Farewell My Concubine and Green Snake.The paper is divided into three chapters for detailed exploration.Chapter One,"The Theme Exploration of Li Bihua's Classic Novels",elaborates the themes of Li Bihua's novels from three aspects,namely,tragic theme,subversive traditional theme and female theme.It is hoped that these will be in contrast with the theme adapted from the later films.Chapter 2,"Contrastive Analysis of Novels and Movie Themes Based on Text Close Reading Method",this paper mainly focuses on two works of Li Bihua,Farewell My Concubine and Green Snake,as well as their adapted films,and makes a detailed comparative analysis on the basis of textual close reading.This chapter makes a careful discussion on the theme of the original novel and the theme of the movie from Farewell My Concubine and The Green Snake,as well as the comparison between the theme of the novel and the movie,trying to find out the reasons for the theme upconversion in two different artistic forms in order to bring some new ideas to the theory of film adaptation.Chapter III,"Different Trends of Movie Adaptation Themes under Second Creation".This chapter mainly turns to the analysis of the externalities of film and literature.It mainly makes the following discussion: Under the "Second Creation" of Movie Adaptation,what are the thematic trends of two movies,Farewell My Concubine and Green Snake,respectively.On the discussionof commerciality and artistry,what enlightenment did the two films give to the literary adaptation of the films?This paper attempts to explore the mystery of the transformation between film and literature through the case study of the adaptation of two Li Bihua's novel movies.In order to provide a new idea for the comparative study of the thematic orientation of literary and film adaptation.
