Group cooperative learning,obviously,is a way of learning in which students work together to finish the common goals within the group to acquire knowledge.As an effective learning strategy,group cooperative learning is widely used in many teaching activities.In 2001,The Decision on the Foundation Education Reform and Development of State Council clearly states that we should actively encourage students to explore knowledge during cooperation and then make progress together during exploration.Over the years,with the implantation of new curriculum standard,many experiments on group cooperative learning have been applied in English class.As an English teacher in senior middle school in rural areas,we should actively train students to cooperate with others by applying cooperative learning to English writing teaching in order to solve the problems in English teaching in rural senior middle schools,conforming to the trend of the times.This thesis focuses on the application of group cooperative learning in rural senior middle school English writing teaching and tries to answer the following questions.First,what's the current situation about English writing teaching in rural senior middle schools? Second,what's the effect of applying group learning to English writing teaching in rural senior middle schools? Last,what are the problems of group cooperative learning in the application of English writing teaching in rural senior middle schools?In order to answer these three questions,the author firstly makes an investigation of the current situation of English writing teaching in rural senior middle schools.Then,120 students of two parallel classes and some teachers in Xixian No.2 Senior Middle School in Henan Province were involved in the research.Finally,the author makes a deep research into the effect of cooperative learning in English writing teaching in rural senior middle schools by adopting questionnaires,interview,tests and so on.The research shows that some outstanding problems lie in the process of English writing in rural senior middle schools.For example,backward teaching methods,weak English foundation and awful writing skills.After the experiment,the author found that their grades in English writing improved a lot.Besides,students have made great progress in expression and communication.At the same time,some problems still exist in the application of English writing teaching in rural senior middle schools,such as the contradiction between class efficiency and teaching tasks as well as the unsolved differentiation between good achievement and bad ones.We can deal with the problems from the following aspects.For example,students should develop their ability to think independently and cooperate with others actively.Meanwhile,teachers can complete competitive systems and combine group evaluation with individual evaluation,aiming to make every student get involved in the class actively.In addition,teachers are expected to be sent to other educational bases to get motivation trainings or schools may invite educators to give lectures and share theory knowledge with practical knowledge.
