| Carver pays close attention to the family life of ordinary people,especially the marriage relationship and parent-child relationship,and he is good at depicting the role of husband and wife and parent-child to express the struggle and despair of ordinary people in ordinary life.According to Carver's life experience,this paper divides his works into two stages,and analyzes the development of "couple relationship" and "parent-child relationship" and the change of family theme in family relationship in Carver's works through close reading.This paper analyzes the causes of family themes in Carver's short stories and divides into three parts.In Carver's early family-themed work,Carver focuses on the hann that ordinary people suffered in love.This harm is reflected in the relationship between husband and wife and the indifference and alienation of parents and children,and their erosion of each other's lives.In Later works,the family theme turns to love's repairing effect on life in the relationship between husband and wife and the relationship between in the parent-child relationship.Whether husband and wife or children,they begin to accept their own failures and incompetence,bravely bid farewell to the past or choose to start using love to run the marriage and family.By persisting in decades of writing and creating confession and healing,Carver not only achieved success as a good writer,but also completed psychological redemption.By exploring the transformation of this creative theme,it can restore the true family and social life of the bottom American people in the 1960s to 1980s,and the true self-change in Carver's creation. |
