A Report On The Translation Practice Of Ningjin County People's Government Work Report In 2017

The government work report bears the role of publicizing China's policies.The quality of its English translation has a direct impact on China's external image and plays a very important role.However,the government work report has a number of Chinese-specific words,which increases the difficulty of translation.The source text of this translation practice report is Ningjin County People's Government Work Report in 2017.Apart from the introducing and concluding parts,the present translation report covers four chapters.Chapter One is the description of the translation task which mainly includes the background information,features of the source text and significance of the task.Chapter Two presents the process of the translation task,introducing the preparation before translation,translation process and quality control.Chapter Three is a case analysis.With the guidance of skopos theory,the author employs proper translation methods to analyze the source text at lexical,syntactic and discourse levels respectively.Chapter Four is the summary of translation practice.Through this translation task,the author learns a lot of knowledge about political documents,improves her linguistic and translation competence,and also reflects on the insufficiency of the translation process.
