Practice Report On Simulated C-E Translation Of Report On The Work Of The Tianjin Government In 2017

With an elevating international position,China is attracting worldwide attention to its currentand future's policies and measures.The reports on the work of the governments at all levels provide the public with governance information.Meanwhile,they are the main ways which inform the world about China's policies and measures.To deliver information better,each report has been reviewed both in content and context.Therefore,the reports on the work of governments at all levels are very suitable for C-E translation practice.The Report on the Work of the Tianjin Government in 2017 is a source text with typical political text characters.The words and sentences used by this Tianjin government work report are in accordance with high writing standards;its structure is very compact;and long sentences and sentences with no subject are used frequently.So,this source text could be treated as a challenge for C-E translation practice.To pursue better quality,the author organized other related political texts to accumulate translation skills and background knowledge at first;assistant resources have been referred to both on-and off-line when it is necessary;the functional equivalence theory has been chosen as the major translation theory to guide this practice;and new phrases and translation items also have been summarized for further study.The differences between English and Chinese,and the translation challenges and difficulties caused by these differences are clues of this practice report.Based on these clues,this report takes Nida's functional equivalence theory to guide the report in aspects of translation theory and practice.Furthermore,this report exercises category-based analysis from the terms of structure,sentence-division,and phrases and words.These three dimensions have been discussed in Chapter?,?,and V through several translation examples.To make the translation faithful to the source texts and being readable for the readers,the author focuses on following translation items:different titles,long sentences,sentences with no subject,proper names,abridgement and so on.With all of the efforts,the author wishes that through this simulated C-E translation and this practice report,abilities could be enhanced for the political texts translation,especially for the translation of the report on the work of the government.
