Study On The Performance Of Image Thinking In Chinese Character Font Design

Unique Chinese characters are important part of Chinese traditional culture.It can even be said to be the core of traditional culture.However,in the font of Chinese characters,we have not formed a set of complete and unique design concepts and methods.In the final analysis,our cognition of Chinese character culture only stays on the surface,without digging into its root and cultural value.This paper is divided into four parts to study the performance of image thinking in Chinese font design.The first part studies the origin and characteristics of image thinking,the records of image thinking first appeared in the Book of changes,after,each dynasty each generation all has the research development.Imagery is a symbol of mind,with both spiritual and material characteristics.“To judge things by oneself” is the essential feature of image thinking.The second part studies the effect of Chinese image thinking on font design,the Chinese character structure guided by image thinking makes Chinese characters have the graphic and symbolization,which is conducive to the graphic and symbolic design of Chinese character font design.The third part studies the image thinking characteristics of Chinese characters,which refers to the unique ways to express image thinking and the unique performance of Chinese characters brought by image thinking.There is subject mapping,creating meaning by image,combination symmetry,combining form and sound,from the meaning of rhyme,producing virtual and real,borrowing form and sound.The fourth part studies how to apply the image thinking characteristics of these Chinese characters to design the fonts of Chinese characters,so that the Chinese character font design still retains the characteristics of Chinese characters and forms their own unique style.The subject mapping is the core requirement of excellent Chinese character font design.The creating meaning by image is the basis of image expression in Chinese font design.Combination symmetry,combining form and sound,borrowing form and sound,producing virtual and real to broaden the design of Chinese character font design.From the meaning of rhyme,the performance of Chinese character font design is more full of rhythm and rhythm.This paper hopes to summarize the ideas and methods that can make Chinese character font design form unique style by studying the unique image thinking mode reflected in Chinese character construction.
