A Project Report On The Translation Of An Academic Paper In The Field Of Mathematical Modeling

This article is a Chinese-English translation project report.The original text is an academic paper in the field of mathematical modeling and from a reliable source.This project report on the translation practice is based on the academic paper translated by the translator.This paper first analyzes the characteristics of the original text combining with functional equivalence theory and text function categories theory,and discusses the guidance role of these two theories on the translation of academic papers.Secondly,this paper analyzes some problems and issues in the translation process from three levels:words,sentences and discourses,including difficulties in translating technical terms and long sentences,dealing with cohesive methods,and accurate communication of academic styles.Then,this paper discusses the solutions to translation difficulties in combination with the specific translation examples in the translation practice,such as making a glossary before translation,conversion of parts of speech,restructuring of sentence structure,conversion of sentence patterns,conversion of cohesive devices and so on.In addition,the translator tried to make sure the accuracy and standard of the language and form of the translation by reading parallel texts.This paper aims to explore the textual features of the academic paper in the field of mathematical modeling,and propose feasible translation strategies and methods for its translation,in order to provide a reference for the translation studies of academic texts in related fields in the future.
