| Basic living wage provides a powerful guarantee for handling labor relations and plays an important role in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers,safeguarding efficiency and social equity.By the end of 2017,Wal-Mart had profoundly affected the purchasing power of more than 1 million U.S.workers.The strength of Wal-Mart’s economy has led to widespread belief that the company’s wage policies have had a meaningful impact on the struggle for basic living wages in the United States.The issue of the basic living wage is neither uniquely American nor simply a contemporary one.Approaching graduation and facing employment,the author thinks the topic is of great significance,so that the paper has been discussed and studied.The paper is a kind of informative text with a lot of terminologies.Thus,to translate the paper is a little bit difficult because there are lots of political and economic words and sentences both long and difficult to understand.Therefore,much preparation needs to be done before translation,including collecting the relative words and read both Chinese and English context.The author explained issues covering words,grammar,and discourse when translating “Wal-Mart: the Basic Living Wage” under the guidance of three principles of Skopos theory.First,the author applied the principles of intralingual coherence and interlingual coherence so as to be faithful to the original information.Secondly,in order to solve the problems encountered in translation,the author used translation methods such as active and passive conversion,transformation of part of speech and free translation.So the author verified the feasibility of Skopos theory in the translation “Wal-Mart: the Basic Living Wage”.Lastly,if this paper can provide a pragmatic reference to students majoring in translation and to people who take great interest in translation practice,it will be a huge success. |
