C-E Translation Of Four-Character Structures In Forest Tourism Texts

Translation Workshop:Reading and Translaing is a university project.The author participates in the compilation of two chapters,namely Travel and Tourism and Job and Career.In this project,the Chinses four-character structures in tourism recommendation and introduction texts bring obstacles to translation and can mainly influence the experience of tourists.For this reason,this report emphatically summarizes the methods applied to the C-E translation of four-character structures in forest recommendation and introduction texts and presents related reflections in accordance with skopos theory.Skopos theory emphasizes that translation methods are determined by translation purpose.In source texts,there are a number of four-character structures that can be divided into subject-predicate structures,attributive structures,verb-object structures and coordinate structures.In order to produce rigorous and coherent translation that conforms to the reading habit of target readers,the author applies various translation methods to different grammatical structures.In target texts,the four-character subject-predicate structures are translated into "adjective +noun" structure,adjectives or sentences.The four-character attributive structures can be divided into noun phrases,verb phrase and adjective phrases,and the translation methods for them vary.The four-character attributive noun phrases are translated into "adjective +noun" and "noun+noun" structure,the verb phrases are translated into "verb +prepositional phrase" and"verb +adverb" structure,and the adjective phrases are translated into adjectives.As for the four-character verb-object structures,the author translates them into "verb+noun" structure,so as to convey the entire information.Considering the aesthetic habits of target readers,the four-character coordinate structures are translated into a word or a phrase,or words or phrases.The former method is applied to four-character coordinate synonyms and the latter to four-character coordinate structures without semantic repetition.According to the foregoing conclusion,when translating four-character structures,the translator should not be entangled in grammar structures.Instead,he should use various skills and methods to fulfill different translation purposes.However,sometimes,the distinctive form and rhyme of Chinese four-character structures will be overlooked,given the prospective emotion of target readers.
