Textual Coherence:Translation Workshop:Reading And Translating A Practice Report On E-C Translation Of Coursebook Project

Translation Workshop:Reading and Translating is a construction project of the postgraduate coursebook.Based on the economy chapter of E-C translation that the author translated and edited,this report focuses on the textual coherence in the practice of the translation project.Besides Skopos rule and loyalty principle,the coherence rule is the second rule of Skopos theory,which means that the translation should conform to the intra-textual coherence,hence it could be readable and acceptable.And the translations can be understood by targeted readers and are meaningful in the culture of the translated language and communicative context.The main function of economic news is delivering information.And the translation focuses on the requirements of the economic news style of targeted language and broadly readability based on reproducing the information accurately.Therefore,the translation should pay more attention to the textual coherence.When dealing with the coherence of the statement object,replacing the statement object with the words of the same level as other objects is to make the text more coherent and enhance acceptability.When dealing with the coherence of sentence patterns,passive sentence pattern adopts the methods of using passive sentence translate the passive sentence and switching passive' voice into active voice;and the subject-predicate structure and the sentence without a subject are converted into four-character phraseology,which can make the translation simple,coherence and compact.When dealing with the coherence of word order,recasting the word order according to the chronological order and logical order can improve the readability and fluency of the translation.When dealing with the coherence of meaning,addition and conversion of meaning of the source texts are often used so that the meaning of the translated texts is complete and coherent.When dealing with the coherence of style,substitution and conversion are often used mainly to preserve,replace and change the form of the style,so that the translated text can as much as possible remain expressive and infectious.However,due to the limited knowledge of the author and the lack of ability of information collection,bias would appear in the supplement of meaning;in terms of style,there are many metaphors used in economic news.During the processing of the image of metaphor,it loses the vividness of the original image of the metaphor and also affects the related imagination and emotional reactions of targeted readers.
